Make Secure Donations Through Network for Good
We wouldn’t be here without landowners who care about conservation. While we generally focus on prairie, woodlands, and prime farm land, even properties that have little conservation value can be donated. We would then sell the property to conserve other lands with higher conservation and biodiversity values. Explore how your property can give back to nature. Learn more about how donating land benefits you and makes a positive difference and contact Jerry Jost to get this conversation started.
As a land trust, we know a thing or two about real estate. If you have property that no longer suits your needs, you can spare yourself the hassle of selling and donate the land to Kansas Land Trust. From there, we’ll evaluate the land and either conserve it or use the sale proceeds to protect other land. We accept all kinds of real estate, including houses and investment properties. Your land doesn’t have to look like a prairie to support our mission.
Nature Has Given Us So Much
We accept two types of real estate gifts:
1. Protected lands – lands that you would like us to permanently conserve. Our decisions to accept these donations are based on their alignment with our strategic conservation goals.
2. Unprotected lands – gifts of land that the supporter allows us to sell so that we can put the proceeds towards our most important conservation initiatives.
You Can Give Back to Nature
The process of donating land is easy, convenient, and can offer you significant tax benefits. You can receive an income tax deduction for up to the fair market value of the real estate and you’ll pay no capital gains tax on the property transfer.
